Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

At Quick Shine®, we know how important it is to keep your floors looking their best. Whether you’re using our Floor Finish, Hardwood Floor Luster, or our cleaners, you might have a few questions along the way. No worries—we’ve got you covered! Here are some Quick Shine Q & A of the most common questions we hear from Quick Shine® users, along with expert answers to keep your floors shining.

Q: Where can I find Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster?

A: You can find our Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster at most major retailers and even some local stores near you. To check availability in your area, use our Store Locator to see where you can pick up your favorite Quick Shine® products.

Q: I accidentally got some Floor Finish on my table. How do I remove it without causing damage?

A: Accidents happen! If you get Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table, countertop, or even walls and appliances, don’t worry—it’s easy to clean up. Just spray a little Windex or Formula 409 on the area, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it away with a damp cloth or sponge.

Q: After applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish, what should I use to clean my floors?

A: To keep your floors looking great, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad or our Multi-Surface Spray Mop. However, after applying Floor Finish, wait 4-5 days before using any liquid cleaner to allow the finish to fully cure. In the meantime, you can dust mop to remove dirt and debris.

Q: I used Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner, but my floors aren’t shiny. What happened?

A: Great question! Quick Shine® is our brand name, but not every product in our lineup is designed to add shine. Our Floor Cleaners, including Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner, are made for everyday cleaning. If you want to add shine, apply Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster for that beautiful, glossy look.

Q: My floors look streaky and cloudy after applying Quick Shine® Floor Finish. What went wrong?

A: Streaking or cloudiness can happen for a few reasons:
1️⃣ Not applying enough product—this can often be corrected with another coat.
2️⃣ Residue from previous cleaners (like vinegar solutions or other brands’ products) reacting with the Floor Finish.
3️⃣ Using the same applicator pad for both cleaning and applying the finish.
4️⃣ Applying additional coats too soon—make sure each coat is fully dry before adding another.
5️⃣ Trying to apply too many coats in a short time.

If you’re experiencing streaks, don’t worry! You can remove buildup with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover and start fresh.

I recently replaced some vinyl floor boards and I’m having a hard time getting them to appear like the rest. Use the Multi-Purpose Finish and have been doing so for about 3 years. Do I just need to give it more time or should I take a different approach? Thanks so much!

      Hi Derek,
Thank you for your comment. We recommend removing our Quick Shine Floor Finish with Our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover was specifically developed to not only deep clean, but also to safely remove our finish in situations such as yours where you are not able to achieve the even shine. Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover will also remove other waxes and finishes without harming hardwood floors or their polyurethane seal or any other type of floor surface, including tile and tile grout.

      1. In a bucket, dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water as HOT water is more effective.
      2. Using a sponge mop, apply to the floor surface. Do small sections (5’x5’) of the floor at a time in order to maintain a more manageable removal and clean-up.
      3. Allow the Deep Cleaner solution to remain on the floor for a few minutes. CAUTION: Do not allow the solution to dry and re-adhere to the surface. If solution appears to be drying, add a little warm water to keep the surface wet.
      4. The Quick Shine Floor Finish that you are removing should start to turn to a milky white film indicating the finish is being removed.
      5. At the end of no more than 5 minutes, agitate with a rough-sided sponge or a sponge mop. Aggressive agitation and elbow grease are typically required to remove ground-in dirt and multiple layers of the finish.
      6. Once you have removed the floor finish, rinse the area with clear, warm water and allow to dry. Then you can proceed to the next 5’x5’ area and repeat steps 1-6.

For heavy build-up, you may need to use a second treatment and/or you can also increase the dilution from 1 cup per gallon to 2-3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore it makes 3.5 gallons (at 1 cup per gallon), which should be enough for 500 square feet. Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover is only available on-line at http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center M-F from 8 am to 4:30 pm EST at 1-800-255-1891.

          Hi Diana,
We recommend using Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner to safely remove our Finish from your floors. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. This is also a great cleaner for stone tile flooring.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface in small 5’ x 5’ squares at a time, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Remove debris and build-up from each 5’ x 5’ area of the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. After treating the small problem area let dry after rinsing and simply wipe a coat of the Quick Shine® Floor Finish on the treated area. This area will then blend in with the rest of the finished floor due to the advanced leveling agents in the formula. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.amazon.com, http://www.walmart.com, http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center.

Is there an easy way to see if scratches in our wood floor is just in the quick shine we applied or actually in the wood. We have dogs who wrestle together and created the scratches after we did all the floors with quick shine.

Quick Shine applies a protective barrier on the floor surface. Any scratches from pets would be in our finish and can easily be removed with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner followed by a new application of Finish.

        Hi Rose,
Quick Shine Floor Finish is designed to provide a protective high gloss shine to any sealed hard surface flooring. It is not a cleaner and your floors should be clean prior to applying this product. It can be applied over existing dry coats of Rejuvenate as long as that product is not cloudy or hazy. For best results we recommend removing that product first with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. The shine will last approximately 2-6 months depending upon foot traffic. You can maintain the shine in between applications with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner as it is compatible.

I scrubbed my tile floors and the grout. I mopped all residue away. I applied the finish and it looks great. My question is, is the quick shine finish enough to seal the grout and protect it from dirt/stains? I live in a rental house and do not want to take the time and money to apply a grout sealer if I can get away with it.

Yes, we recommend applying multiple coats for an even appearance and added durability but our Finish should act as a protective barrier preventing any dirt and stains in the grout.

        Hi Bill,

We recommend removing Quick Shine Floor Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Typically this will be a mop and bucket method for removing, but you can use your orbital to agitate the area and clean away the finish. Just make sure to rinse your attachment brushes afterward.

Hi, Shza. We care about our customers and want to help. We apologize your results were not to your satisfaction. A cloudy, white residue that occurs when cleaning over recently applied floor finish can be caused by several factors as follows:

      – Not originally applying the finish to a clean, dry surface. It is important the floor is clean and free of dust, pet hair, dirt, debris and any residue from past cleaners or old finish/wax solutions that were applied in the past. Other brand cleaners may seem ok to use, however may not be compatible with the Finish and will leave a cloudy haze once dry.

      – Using a soiled or previously used applicator. Be certain that the microfiber or mop applicator is completely free of any previously used cleaner or oil. Best to begin with a completely new applicator.

      – Not allowing each finish coat to completely dry or cure (45-60 minutes depending on humidity levels) before applying subsequent coats.

      – Allowing pets or foot traffic on floor before it is completely dry and cured.

      – Using the same mop for cleaning and applying the finish. Separate applicators should be used for each step.

To correct your situation, we recommend using Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and build-up from the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center at 1-800-255-1891.

After using our Deep Cleaner, apply two or three coats of Quick Shine Floor Finish once each coat of finish has completely dried. You will be amazed at the deep, rich, even, protective glow. You will not need to go through the removing process again if applied and maintained correctly.

If you have any further questions please feel free to call our Customer Service M-F at 1-800-255-1891 from 8am to 4:30pm EST. Thank you!

      Hi Susan,

You can apply our Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish every 2-6 months depending on foot traffic in your home. Maintain the shine with our Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner. This cleaner is PH neutral and will not leave sticky film or residue behind. Our products are not recommended on unsealed surfaces as they are water based and may absorb into the grout or unsealed flooring.

I have used Quick Shine Floor Finish on my Oak Pre-Treated Hardwood floors for 15 Years and they have always looked great to the point of getting rave reviews from anyone who has seen them. Unfortunately, I recently had someone come into my home to remove the popcorn ceilings and repaint the walls and his ladder dug into the layers of wax from the Quick shine even though he had covered the floors with cloth tarps. I am assuming the wax was soft and the weight of him and his ladder caused the marks on my floors. They looked like the wax has light scuffed places in it. How can I spot treat these areas without having to redo all my hardwood floors. PLEASE HELP!!

P.S. The word “light” scuffed places are in reference to the difference in the color of the floor where the damage has been done and also the word “scuffed” means in can feel the places with my fingers, so they are deep enough for that but not only maybe a layer or so deep.

Certain chemicals such as hair spray, disinfecting sprays or hard water can cause this issue. You can spot treat the affected areas with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner or by diluting ammonia and water. Apply solution and let sit 2-3 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply the finish to blend and even out the appearance of the floor.
