You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A
Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again! Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it. So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.
Q: Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A: Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well. Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.
Q: When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface. How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A: Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it. Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge. This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.
Q: What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A: Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process. However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure. You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.
Q: I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny. The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A: This is a common misconception. Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use. If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent. If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.
Q: I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy. What did I do wrong?
A: Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied. For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

I recently bought a home that is all hard wood floors. What products should I use to clean and make them shine without causing a hazy or cloudy residue after?
Hi Hannah,
We recommend to damp mop your floors first with plain tap water to remove any previous cleaning products. Once the floor is clean and dry, apply Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster. You can maintain the shine for months by simply dry dusting frequently to keep dust/debris to a minimum. For surface soil, damp mop with Quick Shine Multi-Surface or Hardwood Floor Cleaners as they are pH neutral and compatible with our Finishes.
Hi,
I used the quick shine floor luster and I really liked. Although my dog keeps water dripping and it’s causing spotting stains on my hardwood. What can I use or do to treat just those water spots stains? Also, how often can I use the luster on my hardwood floors to keep the shine?
Hi Patricia,
It is important to keep water off of the floor during the first few days as the finish is still curing and absorbs that moisture leaving behind water spots. You can spot treat the areas by mixing 3-4 tbs. of Ammonia with 1 cup of HOT water and letting the solution sit on the area for 1-2 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply more Finish and blend to even out the appearance again. You may want to temporarily move the food/water bowls to another area after each new coat you apply to avoid more spotting. We recommend reapplying a new coat of Finish every 2-6 months when needed.
Hi! I use a spin mop when I apply Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster, but I can’t seem to clean the reusable pads after using the luster. Is there any way to dissolve/launder my reusable pads after using Quick Shine? Thank you for your help!
Hi Maddy,
You can soak your pads in a mixture of Ammonia and HOT water for about 45 minutes, then rinse with clear water to release the finish and soften the fibers again. This has worked for many consumers with similar issues. 😁
How long does it take for quickshine to dry after it’s been applied to the floor?
Chris,
Allow Quick Shine to dry 30-45 minutes before letting foot/pet traffic back on the floor. You can apply additional coats after one hour. 😁
I went to use the floor finish and discovered that it was thick and clumpy. Can I thin it or is it just past its shelf life?
Hi Berniece,
We do not recommend using the Finish in that consistency. Please reach out to customer service at 800-255-1891 and we will send you a replacement. Thinning the solution may cause it to dry cloudy on your floors.
I recently purchased quick shine floor finish and I didn’t realize it was a long term finish. I want my floors shiny but I don’t want to move all my furniture to apply this. But I don’t want to permanently leave dull squares in my living room floor. How long does quick shine last? can I just use it around my furniture every so often and it eventually fades? Or will it have to be removed to avoid dull squares?
Hi Abby,
You can apply around furniture but when you move your furniture around, we recommend a quick touch up in those dull areas with Quick Shine to blend evenly. The finish will last for months in high traffic areas before wearing down to a dull shine. To remove the finish completely, we recommend Quick Shine Deep Cleaner which can be purchased online at http://www.walmart.com.
Hi Abby,
You can apply the finish around your furniture and if you ever rearrange and move the furniture, you can touch up those areas at that time to blend the shine. Quick Shine will last for a very long time before wearing down.
Hi! I just apply the product I have been using for almost 3 or 4 months but now I have my pet prints in the floor she pass when the wax was applied and wasn’t dry yet, also where they pee in the floor the product is like sticky. How can I fix it?
Hi Rosa,
To correct your situation, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner to safely remove the Finish and provide a clean surface to reapply Quick Shine® Finish and achieve the WOW Factor once again. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor.
Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface in small 5’ x 5’ squares at a time, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Remove debris and build-up from each 5’ x 5’ area of the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. After treating the small problem area let dry after rinsing and simply wipe a coat of the Quick Shine® Floor Finish on the treated area. This area will then blend in with the rest of the finished floor due to the advanced leveling agents in the formula. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.walmart.com, http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center.
After using our Deep Cleaner, apply two or three coats of Quick Shine Floor Finish to your clean dry floor. You will be amazed at the deep, rich, even, protective glow and the way it restores the color to your floor. You will not need to go through the removing process again if applied and maintained correctly.
Quick Shine seems to scratch easily. What’s the deal?
Have you determined the cause of the scratches? Pet nails, scooting heavy furniture, etc. unfortunately can scratch or etch into the finish if it hasn’t fully cured yet. You may need to apply a new coat to the traffic areas to add more durability.
I have a customer that wants his put on her floors but every time I use it it ruins my mop head. What can I use to get it out of my Mop Heads please I’m tired of re-buying mop heads?
Hi Dedra,
You can soak your pads in a mixture of Ammonia and HOT water for about 45 minutes, then rinse with clear water to release the finish and soften the fibers again. This has worked for many consumers with similar issues. 😁
I have sealed travertine tile floor in my TV room and in one area approximately 10×10 square feet, my house cleaning lady used something that made this area dull. I tried to clean the whole floor with Quick Shine floor cleaner and after I let dried for about 3 hours. Then I tried to apply the Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish. The problem is that the product didn’t adhere to the Travertine and becomes like a dry white glue particles as I move the microfiber pad with the product. Please can you help me out with this problem and explain me to what I need to do to solve the problem? My other question is! Can Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish be used on sealed travertine tiles? Thank you
Hi Marilene,
Yes, Quick Shine Finish can be used on sealed travertine floors. If Quick Shine did not adhere properly to the floor surface, you can safely remove the Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product can be purchased online at http://www.walmart.com for best pricing.
Can I use your Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to remove cloudy places on my refinished hardwood floors?
The ugly places were caused by the wheels on a relative’s walker. She visited right after I had used your floor luster and my floor must not have been completely dry. I don’t want to damage my floors.
Hi Janice,
Yes, you can spot treat the affected areas to remove the scuffing with our Deep Cleaner. This product was formulated specifically to safely remove the Finish without damaging floors. Once the Finish has been removed, simply reapply a new coat to even out the appearance of the floor again. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. Can quick shine be used on wood kitchen cabinets?
Hi Bonita,
Although Quick Shine was formulated specifically for floors, many of our consumers have used it on a variety of other hard non-porous surfaces such as furniture, cabinetry and countertops. We recommend testing in a small area first to assure satisfactory results.
Can I use quick shine Hardwood products on my laminate floor?
Hi Jim,
Yes, Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster and Hardwood Floor Cleaner can both be used on laminate floors as they are pH neutral.
Third time I’m submitting this question…can I use an O Cedar spin mop with my quick shine floor finish?
Hi Mary Beth,
Yes, you can use your O’Cedar Spin Mop, however we prefer using microfiber mops with the flat head to prevent streaking. It is important that you do not swirl the product around on your floors.

Hello,
I have been a fan of Quick Shine Floor Finish for many years. I used some yesterday on granite tile floor and, for the first time, I did not get the results I expected. I cleaned the floor thoroughly first with a steam mop, then scrubbed with a bristle brush and then applied Floor Finish. It was streaky and dull after the first application so I waited over 6 hours and applied a second coat. It was better but still hazy and a little streaky. The shine is less than the floor had with just a wet mopping. I read some the Q and A and saw responses about things that can cause the condition I am seeing but none seem to relate to how I prepared the floor and applied the product. One condition I have that may be different than the situations others have written in about – the product I am using is several years old – can age affect product performance? I don’t know exactly how old but at least 3-1/2 years. If that is not a likely cause, could you provide any other actions I should take. I want to keep using this product due my past success with it!
Dan
Hi Dan,
You may be experiencing a buildup or the Finish may have become softened by the steam mop you used. There is no shelf life on our products so as long as the Finish was not thick and it was sealed tightly, performance should be fine. You may want to remove the Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner and start fresh once again to achieve the WOW Factor.
Hi there,
I have wood laminate floor, and I used quick shine, but missed a spot where the product was on the floor. Now there is a stain. How can I remove the stain?
Thanks,
Laney
Hi Katherine,
You can spot treat the stained area with a mixture of 3-4 tbsp. of Ammonia and 1 cup of HOT water. Apply solution to the area and let sit 1-2 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply a new coat of Finish to the area and blend. This method has worked for other consumers with similar issues.

My flooring company says that I should not use any product with a polymer in it. Can I check this out with you and can I ask you if any of the Quick Shine products have a polymer in them?
Hi Jean,
Yes, Quick Shine Finishes do contain a water borne polymer finish which adheres to your floors surface providing a long lasting shine. Quick Shine is pH neutral and safe to use on any sealed hard surface flooring.
can I use Quickshine on Dura Ceramic floors?
Yes, Quick Shine is pH neutral and safe for any sealed hard surface including Ceramic tile floors. It is recommended to test a small area first to assure satisfactory results.
