You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

I’m favoring the idea of installing luxury vinyl plank flooring, though I dislike how dull they all are. The manufacturer (LifeProof) does not recommend using anything to make it shine, though I see comments from people saying they’ve done so and are happy with the results. What I want to know is, if I apply your product will I be able to completely remove it if it doesn’t work out? If so, how hard will that be?

      Hi Linda,

Yes, you can safely remove Quick Shine from newly installed LVP flooring if you do not desire to keep it. For best results on new floors, we recommend rinsing the floor well with clean water and allow the floor to dry completely before applying Quick Shine. This should help to remove any residue that comes on the floor from the installation. We always recommend testing a small area first to assure compatibility though we are confident you will achieve the WOW Factor. Apparently the bottle of quick shine multi surface floor finish had a leak when it was sitting in the grocery bag on my car seat. Now I have two stains on my seat. I got most of it off with a damp towel but the edges of the stain had already dried and left noticeable white rings on my black car upholstery. How can I remove the stains completely without damaging my car seat fabric. I have a brand new car?! 🙁

        Hi Nancy,

We are sorry to hear this happened to you. You can spray Formula 409 on the area, allow to sit 1 minute and wipe with a damp cloth. Hi Julia,

Yes, Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster can be used on laminate too! Although it is more specific for hardwood floors with the added carnauba in the formula, it is still safe on engineered and laminate floors as well. For application tips, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Are there any other cleaners that are ok to use on top of the floor shine? Swiffer products or murphys oil or anything.

            Posted November 15, 2019 at 11:16 am

            Hi Dawn,

It is important to use a pH neutral floor cleaner over our Quick Shine Floor Finish. We do not recommend oil soaps, vinegar, ammonia and other cleaners loaded with fragrance or soaps. You can damp mop with cool water or apply Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner (blue label) as this cleaner is compatible. Staying with the same brand of products is key to maintaining a beautiful shine. For more information please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

My husband accidentally spilled bourbon on our hardwood floor. There are now white splash marks that I cannot get up.What can I use to get it up. The original hardwoods are pre-finished and I don’t want to damage them.

    Thanks,
    Kathy

      Hi Kathy,

You can spot treat the affected area with a mixture of 3-4 tbsp. of ammonia and 1 cup of HOT water. Apply solution and allow it sit for 3-4 minutes before wiping away. Once our Finish is removed and the floor is clean and dry, you can reapply a new coat of Finish and blend back for an even appearance. This method has worked well for many consumers with similar issues. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

          Hi Julie,

To correct your situation, we recommend using our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner to safely remove the Finish and provide a clean surface to reapply Quick Shine® Finish and achieve the WOW Factor once again. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and build-up from the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I used the product on a previous new home which had all hardwood and tile floors. The product was great. Fast forward to next new home with all tile flooring. We were the ones to do construction clean up and used only a Rainbow vac and warm water literally 7-8 times After move-in we vacuumed and mopped with (warm water only); after drying applied the Quick Shine. With the next mopping (again plain water) noticed it looked like some areas Of “shine” had come up. Waited a few days and mopped again—floor was worse. I noticed the grout looked white(it is a dark brown) so rubbed my finger on it and discovered a white powdery substance. All the floors look terrible and I am expecting our first guests in a few hours. What has happened?!!!

          Hi Tricia,

If you only applied one coat to the tile floors, there may have been voids or areas where the moisture was able to absorb into the finish and soften it resulting in the white powdery substance. We recommend spot treating those areas with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. You may also try applying a new coat after you wipe away any surface dust/debris.

If Quick Shine Floor Finish gets wet shortly after application, moisture can absorb into the Finish and leave water spots. To treat the compromised area, simply dilute 3-4 tbsp. of Ammonia with 1 cup HOT water and apply to area. Allow solution to sit 3-4 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry you can apply a new coat of Finish to restore the shine. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Yes, Quick Shine can be applied to your floors, however if you ever rearrange the room you will notice a difference in the appearance of the floor where there is no Quick Shine. Simply touch up those areas to even out the shine again.

Any mop should work during the removal process. The key is to allow the solution to sit on the surface for a few minutes in order to liquefy the finish so it easily mops away.

            Hi Scott,

No, you do not need to shake our Finish before use. If the Finish dried to a cloudy haze, we call that a detergent haze which is typically caused by cleaning residue preventing our Finish from adhering and curing properly to the floor surface. We recommend using Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to remedy the situation. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to 5′ sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com.
