You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

I have applied Quick Shine to brand new porcelain flooring that looks like wood but it is porcelain tile. At first it gave it a cleans shine but then a few days later the nightmare began…. with a residue peel that was starting to come up and it looks cloudy and ohhhh so bad. I will never use this product on porcelain flooring again……how do I strip the wax residue and bring back the matte finish look? Wish I had never done such thing but ….live and learn right !!!!! Will my flooring return to its original state ? We just bought this house brand new

          Hi Marja,

It is possible the finish had not fully cured although it was dry and moisture had absorbed into the finish causing it to peel. You can spot treat the affected areas or remove the finish completely and start fresh with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to small sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop or wipe away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I’ve been using the Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster. I want to remove it from my floor WITHOUT stripping away the polyurethane seal of my wood. Will the Deep Cleaner work without removing the polyurethane seal? Will it only remove the Floor Luster?

          Hi,

You may need to allow Quick Shine Deep Cleaner to sit for 3-4 minutes on the surface before mopping it away with a clean water rinse. If our Finish is completely removed there will be no remaining residue or cloudiness left behind.

        Hi Melissa,

We recommend dry dusting frequently to keep dirt/debris to a minimum. For heavier surface soil, we recommend cleaning with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner in between finish applications. This method will maintain the shine for months!

I want to get my floors buffed and refinished. I just had someone walk – because I was told this hardwood product (brown label) with the wax,1) would cause it all to peel. 2) He said the wax ruins the floors. 3) How do I remove this product from my floor, so I can get it buffed and refinished?

      Hi Sue,

Quick Shine Finishes are pH neutral and cannot damage floors. To safely remove our Finish prior to a sanding/recoat, we recommend remove the finish completely with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. My husband applied Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish to my pickled hardwood floors multiple times over the last few months WITHOUT first cleaning the floors. Now there are dirt spots beneath several layers of Quick Shine. How can I strip those layers of Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish in order to remove the dirt spots WITHOUT damaging the underlying stain and acrylic urethane?

We applied quick shine to our wood laminate which made it look amazing! We have a puppy that has accidents often. If we clean it upright away we have no issues, but there are a couple spots we missed for a bit and now we can still see the outline of the puppy accident. What can we do to get the area so it looks the same as the rest of the floor?

The cloth I used to apply quick shine is now hard as a rock. I can’t make it soft again. If I try to apply quick shine with it again, it’s all streaky because the cloth is now rigid.

I don’t want to have to use a new cloth everytime. Should I not use a cloth? Is there a way to make cloths used to spread quick shine soft again??

      Hi Ryan,

We recommend soaking the pad for 30-45 minutes in a mixture of 1 cup Ammonia and 1/2 gallon of HOT water. Rinse pad with clean water to release our Finish and soften the fibers again. Once the pad is clean, you should be able to reuse it without any streaking. Always rinse your pad immediately after use to avoid it stiffening again.

I use the quick shine on my hard wood floors and absolutely love it! They are real oak floors in an older home. I was wondering if I can use the quick shine on granite countertops. They are sealed but need something to make them shine. I know it can be used for stone floors I am just not sure about the countertops?

          Hi Nancy,

Although Quick Shine was formulated for floors, many of our consumers use it on other surfaces including granite counter tops, cabinetry and furniture. We recommend wiping any residue from previous products off of your counter tops first and test our Finish in a small area to assure it performs properly. Hi Carol,

a streaky/cloudy appearance is caused when a cleaner has left soap residue on the floor preventing our finish from properly adhering to the surface. To remedy your situation, we recommend removing our finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to 5′ sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com.
