You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

BT3A4031

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

      Hi Christine,

If the finish was recently applied and had not fully cured, any moisture that sits on the surface can absorb into the finish causing water spots. We recommend spot treating this affected area with our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Once the finish has successfully been removed, simply reapply a new coat to even out the appearance of the floor again. If this area is around a sink or bathroom, it may be helpful to place a rug temporarily until the finish is fully cured and can withstand cleaning and moisture. I applied Quick Shine hardwood floor luster on my laminate floor. It was a mistake. I have a shiny floor with streaks everywhere. I applied a second coat two days later thinking it would cover up the strokes and streaks. Same thing , maybe worse. How do I remove this product from my laminate floor? It’s a very large area and it looks awful. Please help. I tried windex in a spot. It removed everything including the original luster.of the flooring. Is this my only option? Do you think hot water with a floor washer will do it?

      Hi Perry,

You can remove our Finish and get back to the original floors with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without harming hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble, and laminate. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor.

Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water and apply to the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and agitate. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and build-up from the floor with a clear water rinse. For heavy buildup, you may need to increase the dilution of 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore one 27 oz. bottle will make roughly 2 gallons, which covers about 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. It is also important to note that Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner can also be used to treat small imperfection areas of the floor without treating the entire floor. After treating the small problem area let dry and simply wipe a coat of the Quick Shine® Finish on the treated area. This area will then blend in with the rest of the finished floor due to the advanced leveling agents in the formula. The Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at http://www.walmart.com, http://www.quickshine.net or by calling our Customer Service Center. We would like to send you a complimentary bottle to try if you can provide us your shipping address.

After using our Deep Cleaner, apply two or three coats of Quick Shine Floor Finish once each coat of finish has completely dried. You will be amazed at the deep, rich, even, protective glow. You will not need to go through the removing process again if applied and maintained correctly.

Visit us on the web anytime at http://www.quickshine.net. We just got Porcelain Tile (wood-look) 6′ x 24″ installed over a large portion of our house. The tile seems gritty when you move a dining chair with nylon super glides, even after several cleaning. Home Depot said a sealer is not recommended, and that the gritty sound when moving a chair is normal for porcelain tile. We also wanted a glossy shine. We’ve used your QUICK SHINE FLOOR FINISH on our old vinyl floors and were very pleased with it.
    (1) Is your FLOOR FINISH a sealer? (2) Can it be used effectively on porcelain tile? (3) Will it produce a shine for a few weeks or months without any buildup? (4) What kind of chair tips do you recommend? (5) Does HOLLYWAY HOUSE recommend FLOOR FINISH for porcelain tile?
I read the back of the bottle, and am still not sure if it is a sealer OR if it produces a buildup. THANKS,

      Hi Vernon,
We are so glad to hear you achieved great results with Quick Shine on your porcelain tile floors. Our pH neutral Finish is safe for any hard surface flooring including porcelain. It provides a protective layer to your floors so in that way it is like a sealer. The general rule of thumb is to apply Quick Shine Finish every 2-6 months when needed. The shine will typically last 4-6 months for low traffic homes. Maintain the shine by dry dusting your floors often. You can damp mop for heavier soil with Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner (blue label). As long as you maintain your floors properly and do not over use the Finish, you should never develop a buildup or have to remove the finish. For additional questions, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Try soaking your pad in a mixture of Ammonia and HOT water for about 30-45 minutes and rinse with clean tap water. The polymer should dissolve from the fibers and soften the pad again.

Loved my wood floors at first with Quick Shine, then my mom came with her walker and made streaks – which I thought could just be taken care of with another coat of quick shine….wrong
it’s not working. There should be a warning on your bottle that you need Quick Shine Deep Cleaner before putting on another coat and it should be available where I purchased the product to begin with. Really bummed that I can’t find it and need to order on line. I have company coming in two days and don’t have time to get it by then:(
        My floors are a mess….

          Hi Kathy,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you have to remove the finish and start again. Unfortunately retailers decide which products they will allow space for and we have no control over that. Walmart.com has quick shipping and best pricing right now. You can also try 1 cup of Ammonia with 1/2 gallon of HOT water as an alternative solution. Simply mop solution on 5′ area, allow to sit 3-4 minutes and mop away. This method has worked for other consumers needing to remove the finish in a pinch.

      Hi Joy,

Have you tried applying a new coat of Finish over the scratched areas? Unfortunately if that has not worked for you, removing the finish is the best alternative as the scratches are etched into the finish.

        Hi Debbie,

You can repair small areas of the floor with 3-4 tbsp. of Ammonia and 1 cup of HOT water. Apply this solution to the affected area and allow to sit 3 minutes before wiping away. Once the area is clean and dry, simply reapply a new coat of Finish to even out the appearance again. This method has worked for other consumers with similar situations.
