Caring for Your Hardwood Floors Done Right

8B8A9749

Are you in the market for new flooring?  Do you want to give your old flooring a little sprucing up?  As trusted experts in floor care, we can help keep your hardwood floors looking beautiful!

Our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster can give your floors a gorgeous shine no matter what type of hardwood floors are in your home.  Squirt and spread…it really is that simple!

It is important to start with a clean, dry surface when applying Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster.  Clean your floors using a microfiber mop pad dampened with plain, cool tap water, and then let it dry before applying the Floor Luster.  You can also clean your floor with one of our natural hardwood floor cleaners by using a white microfiber bonnet, a sponge mop, or a microfiber applicator.

We do NOT recommend cleaning with oil soap, pine oil, orange oil, ammonia, vinegar, or any other all-purpose cleaners as these cleaners can interfere with the film formation process of our Floor Luster by leaving sticky oily residue, detergent haze, or an inadequate surface for maximum gloss.

Spread the Hardwood Floor Luster with a damp mop or microfiber pad that has been freshly rinsed with cool tap water and wrung out.  Never spread the Luster with the same applicator that you use to clean the floor as the residue from the cleaner and/or soil can cause hazing and streaking.  When applying, use broad even strokes.  Do not use a back-and-forth motion as this will also cause streaks or haziness.  It is also important to let it completely dry (45-60 minutes depending on humidity levels and temperatures) before applying subsequent coats and before allowing pets or foot traffic on the floor.  If you do not allow Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to completely cure it will show footprints and smudges.

Now let’s talk maintenance… You can maintain the shine by keeping your floors clean and free of dirt and dust.  It is recommended to frequently dry dust mop, and for a more thorough clean, use our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner with a microfiber pad.  It is not recommended to pour the cleaning solution directly onto the flooring surface that has been treated with our Luster, but rather dampen the mop pad with cleaning solution and then mop the floor.  It is also important to avoid using vinegar or ammonia solutions to clean your floors in the future, as they will reduce the shine over time and ammonia can actually remove the finish.  Many general-purpose and floor-cleaning brands look acceptable when they are wet but when dry create footprinting and haze issues due to residue that is left on the floor.  We always recommend cleaning and maintaining your floors with Quick Shine® Cleaners.

Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster is very durable and long-lasting.  As a general rule of thumb, high-traffic areas should be freshened with Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster every 2-3 months, and light traffic areas every 4-6 months.  You can even freshen just the high-traffic lanes of the floor if you wish.

In today’s market, there are hundreds of options for hardwood floors.  Distressed Wide Planks, Red Oak, Reclaimed Wood, Brazilian Cherry…the list goes on.  Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster will be there to give you that deep, rich protective glow every time!  Check out these fabulous hardwood flooring options from our friends at HGTV.

I applied lemon oil directly to my hardwood floors, how long does it take to dry. The floors are shiny and slippery.

          Hi Takisha,

It is not recommended to apply Lemon Oil to floors. If you floors are sealed, the Lemon Oil will not dry. You will need to wipe and rinse away the Lemon Oil. We recommend using Quick Shine Floor Finish for floors. For more information, please visit our website or contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

We applied Holloway House Floor Luster on our 3 year old dark stained Hickory wood floors. We waited several hours to put the furniture back and allow our dog to walk on the floors. After one day, the finish is showing smudge marks, footprints and paw prints. How do we get rid of the smudge marks and footprints? Will this continue to happen to our floors if we continue to use tis product?

      Hi Jan,

Quick Shine is designed to be extremely durable and should not show smudge marks or foot traffic. It is possible the finish had not fully cured although it was dry and moisture had absorbed into the finish. You can spot treat the affected areas or remove the finish completely and start fresh with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply dilute our Deep Cleaner with hot water and apply to small sections at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop or wipe away. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is only available online at this time at http://www.quickshine.net or http://www.walmart.com. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Are your “Hardwood Floor Cleaners” safe to use on oil or wax finished flooring? (ie: hardwood floors that are very, very old — +100 yrs) I can’t seem to find specific details like this on your site.
