Deep Cleaner Tutorial

bigstock Hand of man wearing orange rub

Today we are going to share with you a video tutorial on how to use our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner.  This product was specifically developed to not only deep clean your floors but also to safely remove our finishes due to misapplication or to simply remove multiple layers so you can start fresh with a new coat of finish.  The Deep Cleaner will also remove other waxes and finishes without harming hardwood floors or their polyurethane seal or any other type of hard floor surface, including tile and tile grout.

This tutorial is a great resource as it breaks down the step-by-step instructions on how to easily use the Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner.  Click the YouTube link below to enjoy our short tutorial:

We also wanted to include a written version of our tips on how to use the Deep Cleaner.  Please see below for details instructions:

  1. In a bucket, dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water as HOT water is more effective.
  2. Using a mop with a microfiber or scrubber pad, apply it to the floor surface. Do small sections (5’x5’) of the floor at a time in order to maintain a more manageable removal and clean-up. You can also remove our Finish from only the affected areas without treating the entire floor.
  3. Allow the Deep Cleaner solution to remain on the floor for a few minutes. CAUTION:  Do not allow the solution to dry and re-adhere to the surface.  If the solution appears to be drying, add a little warm water to keep the surface wet.
  4. The Finish that you are removing should start to turn to a milky white film indicating the finish is being removed.
  5. At the end of 2-3 minutes, agitate with a microfiber or scrubber pad. Aggressive agitation and elbow grease are typically required to remove ground-in dirt and multiple layers of the finish.
  6. Once you have removed the floor finish, rinse the area with clear, warm water and allow it to dry. Then you can proceed to the next 5’x5’ area and repeat steps 1-6.

After all the compromised finish has been removed, you can reapply the Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster in the affected area with a damp sponge or microfiber cloth and let it dry completely.  The finish contains leveling agents that help the product provide a uniform coating with the rest of the floor surface.  For larger areas, you can reapply using a mop and damp microfiber mop pad.  It is important to let the floor dry completely before applying any subsequent coats of Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster.

NOTE:  For heavy build-up, you may need to use a second treatment, and/or you can also increase the dilution from 1 cup per gallon to 2-3 cups per gallon.  Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore it makes 3.5 gallons (at 1 cup per gallon), which should be enough for 500 square feet.

The Quick Shine product has left a hard crust on the mop pad which will not come off from regular washing. Will this product remove the hard crust from the mop pad?

Hi Donna. Yes, you can use our Deep Cleaner solution mixed with hot water and let the pad soak for a few hours. You could also soak the pad in a mixture of ammonia and hot water to get the same resolution. We recommend doing a half and half ratio with the ammonia. Either route you take will help emulsify any Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster still left on your microfiber pad. I used Quick Shine yesterday doe the first time on a portion of my laminate floor in my family room. It is showing scrub marks and doesnt look right. I cant find the deep clean solution by quick shine as I have checked numerous stores. Only Amazon and it is a week out. Is there any place that sells this product? When I remove the portion if area i applied will It be back to the original look as the rest of the family room which I didn’t use the floor shine on? Im feeling very discouraged and think I may have ruined that area of my laminate flooring. Thank you for your expertise in helping me get my floors corrected back to before I used the product.

          Hi Vicky,

Unfortunately Amazon and Walmart.com are the only retailers that currently sell our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. It is currently not available in any stores. You can mix 1 cup Ammonia with 1/2 gallon of HOT water as an alternative solution to remove the Finish and start over again. Work in 5′ sections at a time and allow solution to sit 3-4 minutes before mopping away. Once the floor is clean and dry, you can reapply the Finish to achieve the WOW Factor or simply maintain the original floors with a pH neutral floor cleaner.

Yes, our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner was specifically developed to safely remove our Finish from any sealed hard surface flooring including laminate. We recommend diluting 1 cup of Deep Cleaner with 1/2 gallon of HOT water and mop solution on a 5′ area at a time. Allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes before mopping away and finishing with a damp mop clean water rinse. This method has worked for many consumers who need to remove our Finish from their floors. Hi Catalina,

If your floors are porous, you may need to repeat the Deep Cleaner process a few times and allow the solution to sit a little longer before wiping away.

Hello, I am going to use the QuickShine Deep Cleaner to remove splotchy application of a floor finish and also to get a deep clean back on the floor. Once I remove the previous finish, what do I need to apply to the floor to protect it? Is there a sealing product then followed by a floor finish or do I just go straight to the floor finish after the deep cleaner? I appreciate it!

After removing the previous Finish and your floors are clean and dry, simply reapply two new coats of Finish to seal and protect your floors once again.
