Finish vs. Luster

blog finish vs luster

In the left corner wearing green, weighing in at 27 oz. is the Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish.  In the right corner wearing brown, also weighing in at 27 oz. is the Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster.  Let’s get ready to rumble and see which is the winner for you!

Our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster is fortified with pure carnauba that provides durability and a softer sheen to hardwood floors.  Another added benefit of the Hardwood Floor Luster is that the product is buffable so that scuffs and scratches can be buffed out if need be.  If you are wanting to spruce up your dull hardwood floors without the cost of replacing then this product is fantastic!  The Hardwood Luster will revive your floors and bring that beautiful hardwood back to life!

The Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish is designed to protect and impart a rich, deep, protective glow, giving a more high gloss shine compared to the Luster.  It is safe to use on a variety of hard floor surfaces including; hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, and stone.  The Floor Finish is the perfect product if you want to give your floors that WOW factor!

Both products are water-borne polymer formulations.  The Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster and Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish are completely compatible and can be applied over existing, dry coats of one another.  Subsequent coats can be applied every 2-3 months, or 4-6 months depending on how high traffic your floors are to maintain the desired gloss level.

By all accounts, we declare both the Floor Finish and Hardwood Floor Luster winners!  Which corner are you in?

          Hi Daniel,

Although Quick Shine Finish and Luster were formulated for floors, many consumers have used it on cabinets with success. We recommend testing an area first to assure satisfactory results. You can also try our Quick Shine Cabinet & Wood Cleaner + Polish. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I have a lot of stains in my cabinets as they are quite old. There not dirt stains their white stains from just being old. I tried old English which did work for a while but the stains returned. I am hoping this product will work. Please give me any information you can. Thank you Elizabeth Colwell

            Hi Elizabeth,

For your cabinets, we recommend Holloway House Lemon Oil. This formula will bring moisture back to your wood cabinets. It is also formulated with Sun Guard protection to prevent the wood from fading due to direct sunlight.

The best comparison I’ve ever read. To the point. Easy to understand. Loved the mention about using over each other. I’m using it on my plastic models I’m building.

Yes, I use it on my laminate floors and it doesn’t hurt it at all. I’ve never done more than one coat but I’m going to try more than one coat tonight. I’m doing my floors as I wright this out. Wish me luck. I’m really hoping to get more shine because it doesn’t seem very shinny to me with one coat.

      Hi Reena,

We do not recommend applying our Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on a weekly basis. General rule of thumb would be to apply them every 2-3 months for high traffic homes and every 4-6 months for low traffic homes. You can maintain the shine with our Quick Shine Multi-Surface or Hardwood Floor Cleaners found in stores. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact customer service at 800-255-1891 M-F 8am-4:30pm EST. We’re always happy to help!

Can you use this product on a portion of the floor or do you have to move out all the furniture so it goes on everything evenly?

      Hi Katie,

Yes, you can apply Quick Shine to high traffic areas, however if you ever decide to rearrange your furniture there will be a visible difference where Quick Shine was applied. Some consumers do sections of the room at a time so they can move furniture pieces around easier, just lift instead of scoot pieces to avoid scuffing the fresh polish. For more tips please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

I applied the luster (it worked amazingly), after a few months I see scratches in the previous coat. I want to fix those. Should I just apply another layer on it or remove that layer and then apply a new coat?
What should I use to remove the previous layer?

    Thanks

      Hi Vick,

You should be able to reapply a new coat to even out the appearance of the floor again and fill in surface scratches. If you ever want to start fresh and remove Quick Shine, we recommend Quick Shine Deep Cleaner (red label).

I have the opposite question. Can the Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster be used on tile floors? I used up the whole bottle of Multi- surface on my kitchen tile and don’t want to go back to the store. I have a bottle of the hardwood floor luster. Can I use that on the tile?

Can quick shine floor finish be applied dry ( with a dry cloth rather than a damp one)?
I just cleaned the floors and just want to add a shine.

          Hi Georgia,
We recommend a lightly dampened microfiber cloth as it will help spread the finish and prevent it from soaking into a dry pad.

I don’t want a high shine floor. It is currently a flat finish tile. Can luster be used to give a low gloss shine to the tile?

      Hi Bill,

Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster will provide a deep, rich glow to your tile floors. It will provide a satin to semi-gloss sheen.
