How to Use Our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner

blog how to use our quick shine deep cleaner

Deep Cleaner to the rescue!  Many of you have asked if there are any tips or tricks to the Deep Cleaner process so you can reapply the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to get your floors back to that WOW factor.

Today, we are happy to share with you the recommended steps below to give you confidence in conquering your floors like superman!

The Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner was specifically developed to not only deep clean but also to safely remove our finish from your floors.  Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner/Wax Remover will also remove other waxes and finishes without harming hardwood floors or their polyurethane seal or any other type of hard floor surface.  Below are 6 quick tips on how to use our Deep Cleaner:

  1. In a bucket, dilute the Deep Cleaner in HOT water as HOT water is more effective.
  2. Using a sponge mop or our Hardwood Floor Mop, apply it to the floor surface. Do small sections (5’x5’) of the floor at a time in order to maintain a more manageable removal and clean-up.
  3. Allow the Deep Cleaner solution to remain on the floor for a few minutes. CAUTION:  Do not allow the solution to dry and re-adhere to the surface.  If the solution appears to be drying, add a little warm water to keep the surface wet.
  4. The Quick Shine Floor Finish that you are removing should start to turn to a milky white film indicating the finish is being removed.
  5. After a few minutes, agitate with our microfiber scrubber pad. Aggressive agitation and elbow grease are typically required to remove ground-in dirt and multiple layers of the finish.
  6. Once you have removed the floor finish, rinse the area with clear, warm water and allow it to dry. Then you can proceed to the next 5’x5’ area and repeat steps 1-6.

NOTE:  For heavy build-up, you may need to use a second treatment, and/or you can also increase the dilution from 1 cup per gallon to 2-3 cups per gallon.  Deep Cleaner is concentrated, therefore it makes 3.5 gallons (at 1 cup per gallon), which should be enough for 500 square feet.

After completing this process, once your floors have completely dried you can now reapply a coat of our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to bring your floors back to life giving them the shine they deserve!

We hope these simple steps have helped you with using the Deep Cleaner correctly and efficiently.  Now you can proudly wear that S on your chest and have triumphed for your floors!

I recently had my hardwood floors refinished (sanded and stained). Unfortunately, a cleaning company used Quick Shine and gave the floors a high gloss shine. Will we be able to use Quick Shine Deep Cleaner on the refinished floors to remove the gloss? If yes, is there anything that they need to do after they remove the gloss?

I have vinyl plank flooring that I applied quick shine too. It’s been a year and I need to remove it. Will the deep cleaner mess with the original vinyl finish?

Hi. I have been using your Quick Shine on my old beat up hardwood floors for years. I pray that you stay in business at least as long as I’m living! I love this stuff! I have never used the deep cleaner to remove the old coats so I think I’m going to try it for a fresh start. Thanks for a great product.

Hi Shirley, it is important to have a seal on your limestone prior to applying Quick Shine for best results. If you need to test the surface first, we recommend applying a drop of water on the surface to see if it absorbs right into the limestone. If it does, we do not recommend applying Quick Shine as our Finish will also absorb and not produce the shine we are known for. Hi Patricia,

Yes, Quick Shine Deep Cleaner will remove any ground in dirt or debris and provide a clean surface. Once the floor is dry, you can apply a coat of Quick Shine Finish to provide a protective, deep shine to your floors. If you do not feel your floors need a deep clean, try our Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner. This pH neutral, ready-to-use formula is easy to use. Simply squirt and spread for a clean floor. We have put Quick Shine on our Oak floors every week for about 14 years. We are trying to take off the hundreds of coats of Quick Shine so we can get it back to how it was and start putting quick shine on maybe for a few months and then removing it.

Removing it is going very very slowly. After about 40 man-hours, we have about half of it stripped off. We’ve tried a stronger solution and that helps, but not much. It was recommended that we use ammonia to get it off faster. I don’t know what to do, but we’re running out of energy, time and patience. Is there anything you get suggest besides wall-wall carpet?

      Hi Marlene,

You can safely remove our Finish from your floors with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Simply apply solution to the area, allow solution to sit for 3-4 minutes and mop away. Our remover has 3x the cleaning power as Ammonia so it will work more effectively to remove the layers. Once the floor is clean and dry, you can reapply our Finish to achieve the WOW Factor once again. For additional assistance, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. I have found that a steamer in unison with the ammonia and laundry soap mix works good but still time consuming, I spray my hardwood floor with the mixture I put in an old spray bottle, then put the steamer on top and let it sit for about 30 sec. then I use a brand new putty knife or scraper to get the majority of the wax up, being cautious not to scratch the hardwood, it works but boy is it still extremely time consuming!

      Hi Patti,

Yes, Quick Shine Deep Cleaner can safely remove our Finish from your bamboo floors. This solution becomes neutral when diluted and does not contain harsh fumes that require wearing a mask. We do recommend placing pets in a separate room while removing our Finish to avoid Finish from adhering to their fur. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. Hola Maria,

          Hi Maria,

Yes, we recommend removing Quick Shine Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. This product was specifically developed to remove polymer and wax finishes without damaging hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble and laminate.

Simply dilute the deep cleanser in HOT water and apply on the floor surface, let stand for a few minutes and shake. Make small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and accumulation of the floor with a rinse with clean water. For a large accumulation, you may need to increase the dilution from 1 cup per gallon to 3 cups per gallon. Deep Cleaner concentrates, therefore, a 27 oz. The bottle will produce approximately 2 gallons, which covers approximately 500 square feet and will not damage the sealant on hardwood floors. Heather,

Quick Shine Deep Cleaner can remove acrylic finishes as our floor finish is an acrylic based finish. We recommend spot treating an area first to see if it has an affect on your stained concrete.

Q 1: I have a heavily soiled wood floor and when trying to scrape of some resin damaged the wood, i.e. took a few slithers off. Is it still safe to use your Quick Shine Deep Cleaner?
Q 2: A small part of the floor (ouside edge) is a mix of soft and hard wood. Is it safe to use on soft wood as well? There may also be some damage to the soft wood, i.e. it’s not sealed all the way?

    Thanks,
    S

      Hi Silett,

We recommend testing a small section of those worn areas to assure proper adhesion. Our Finish is water based and may absorb if there is no seal on the wood. It could take several coats to get an even appearance with the rest of the sealed floor surface. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner is also a water based remover so we recommend working in very small areas of the worn floor at a time. Please contact customer service at 800-255-1891.
